Certainly! Here’s a simple recipe for a basic chocolate cake that is easy to make and delicious.
Easy Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 and 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 2 cups (400g) sugar
- 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) boiling water
Directions:
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the flour mixture and mix together on medium speed for 2 minutes. The batter will be thin.
- Add Boiling Water: Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin, but this is correct).
- Pour and Bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick or cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Frost: Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then remove from pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cool, frost with your favorite chocolate frosting.
Tips:
- For the Frosting: You can use a simple chocolate buttercream frosting or even a store-bought one if you’re short on time.
- Cupcakes: This batter can also be used to make cupcakes. Just adjust the baking time to about 22-25 minutes for standard-sized cupcakes.
- Moisture Tip: For an extra moist cake, consider adding a half cup of sour cream or yogurt to the batter.
Enjoy your homemade chocolate cake!
